We are incredibly excited to introduce our new Fun Start Curriculum!
After lots of thought, discussion and reflection, we have created a curriculum that reflects who we are as a nursery, what we value and, most importantly, what we want for every child who comes through our doors.
Each identity gives our team a clear, meaningful way to nurture confidence, curiosity and connection.
We want children to be curious, creative and confident explorers — asking questions, experimenting, making choices and using their imagination.
We give children opportunities to create, build, design and follow their own interests.

We want children to understand themselves and develop the skills they need to feel safe, happy, healthy and confident.
Children learn about emotions, friendships, self-care, healthy choices, boundaries and resilience.
“My feelings matter, and it is okay to ask for help.”
We want every child to communicate confidently in a way that is meaningful to them — through speech, gesture, signs, visuals, drawing or sound.
Stories, songs, rhymes, conversations and play develop vocabulary, listening and confidence.
“Every child’s voice matters.”
We want children to be curious about the world around them and confident to find things out for themselves.
We give children time, space and resources to notice, predict, investigate and problem-solve.
“Let’s find out!”
Our new curriculum is not about children sitting at tables completing worksheets or being given a list of activities to complete.
Children learn through play.
Our practitioners will carefully observe what children are interested in, understand their development and then use these opportunities to extend their learning.
A simple game of building with blocks could become an opportunity to develop:
Learning happens all day — indoors, outdoors, during routines, at snack time and through child-led play.
Every child develops differently.
Our curriculum recognises that children may have different starting points, interests, strengths and needs.
For children with SEND or developmental differences, we will focus on their individual next steps, rather than expecting every child to follow exactly the same pathway.

Our practitioners respond to the children in front of them, rather than simply following a fixed list of activities. This allows our curriculum to remain responsive to the children, rather than simply following a rigid list of activities.
We want children to leave Fun Start curious, happy and emotionally secure; confident communicators, independent thinkers, resilient learners, and kind and respectful friends.
Most importantly, every child should know they can have a go, their ideas matter, their voice is important and they are capable of amazing things.
Parents and families are an incredibly important part of children’s learning.
We will continue to share ideas through ClassDojo, our website and home-learning opportunities, giving families simple ways to build learning into everyday life.
